If you ever find yourself in Estremadura region of Portugal i highly recommend paying a visit to this wonderful vineyard called Quinta de Sant’Ana. We had the utmost pleasure to meet with the owner James Frost, who kindly showed us his family vineyard inheritance. His attention to details, showing a choice of quality over quantity, his gentle nature with which he nurtured the production was transparent in the selective wine produced. We’ve learned that moving a white grape to the red canopy, all you have to do is make an incision in the red canopy, place a white bud inside and tape it around; throughout the growing process break all the red buds that grow on that canopy to allow the stem concentrate on the new fruit. This assisted growing management is done with lots of patience and attention.
